Ozzy Osbourne is coming home to Birmingham following his death at the age of 76. The singer's cortege will travel along Broad Street on Wednesday, July 30, at 1pm, accompanied by a live brass band. The procession will bring Ozzy and his family to the floral tributes left by fans at Black Sabbath bridge and bench.
The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Zafar Iqbal MBE, JP, said: 'Ozzy was more than a music legend - he was a son of Birmingham. Having recently been awarded the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated appearance at the Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral.'
Bostin' Brass will mark Ozzy's final trip through the city before his private family funeral. Security and associated costs of the procession are being covered by the Osbourne family. Fans and supporters are invited to Broad Street to say goodbye to the Freeman of the City of Birmingham.
Broad Street will be closed to traffic from 7am, with buses and trams diverted. The road is expected to reopen following the event. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early using public transport, and stewards will be on hand to offer support. A live camera at Black Sabbath bridge will stream the event for those unable to attend in person.
