Ozzy Osbourne's daughter Aimée ensured her father's death certificate listed his occupation as 'songwriter, performer and rock legend', in a touching tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman. The document, obtained by The Independent, also revealed the cause of death as acute myocardial infarction and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction listed as joint causes.
The 76-year-old musician died at his home near Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, on 22 July. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, according to a spokesperson for Thames Valley Air Ambulance. His funeral cortege passed through Birmingham on 30 July, where thousands of fans lined the streets to pay their respects.
Aimée, the eldest child of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, chose to include the 'rock legend' description on the death certificate. She famously left home at 16 to avoid appearing on the reality show The Osbournes, which brought the family further fame. Her brother Jack later said she viewed the show as 'low-hanging fruit' and did not want to be seen as 'riding coat-tails'.
Ozzy's final public performance was a farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham on 5 July, weeks before his death. The Independent's critic Mark Beaumont described the gig as a 'celebration of the delicious darkness Osbourne and his coven unleashed over five decades ago'.
