A long-lost script from Only Fools and Horses has surfaced, revealing a Del Boy joke that was cut from the final episode before the character achieved millionaire status. The unearthed manuscript, penned by the late John Sullivan, contains a quip about cleaning a pocket watch with Brasso that never made it to air.
Cut Joke and Alternate Scenes
In the 1996 Christmas episode, Del Boy (David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) auction a pocket watch at Sotheby's. The script originally had Del remarking to Rodney: "They've cleaned it with a bit of Brasso." This line was removed from the final broadcast, which remains the most-watched sitcom episode in British history, drawing 24.3 million viewers.
The manuscript also includes additional lines for car dealer Boycie (John Challis). In the episode, Rodney visits Boycie to buy a Rolls-Royce for Del after the auction. In the newly discovered script, Rodney says: "Six million. We were hoping for more, but the market's a bit depressed." Boycie then invites him to sit down and offers a drink, to which Rodney replies: "Triffic."
Alternative Ending for Batman and Robin Episode
An alternative conclusion to the "mugger" scene from the Batman and Robin episode has also been uncovered. The documents, written by Sullivan for the beloved BBC sitcom, contain previously unseen jokes and scenes cut from the 1996 Christmas trilogy.
The manuscripts are being sold by a former production team member and are expected to raise £2,000 at auction.
