Noel Gallagher Slams Vegans on Chicken Shop Date, Says They Have 'No Stamina'
Noel Gallagher Slams Vegans on Chicken Shop Date

Noel Gallagher has delivered a typically blunt verdict on vegans during an appearance on Chicken Shop Date, telling host Amelia Dimoldenberg they have "no stamina".

Vegan Exchange on Final Episodes

The Oasis star was asked about vegetarianism before Amelia turned the conversation to vegans. "Worse. Even worse. No stamina," Gallagher replied.

With the series coming to its end, Noel was one of the final guests for Amelia to interview whilst in a chicken shop. The Chicken Shop Date series officially launched on YouTube on 12 March 2014, with the first filmed episode featuring the rapper Ghetts. However, the concept started earlier as a written column created by Amelia Dimoldenberg when she was 17 years old for a local under-21s youth magazine in North West London called The Cut.

Previous Jokes About Veganism

The comments echo his previous jokes about meat-free diets. In 2019, the Manchester musician made headlines after discussing veganism with the Manchester Evening News ahead of his Heaton Park show.

"When we were in South America they didn't know what a vegan was," Gallagher said. "I passed her the menu and said you might as well eat the f*cking menu."

Despite his jokes about veganism, Noel revealed in 2023 that his touring band included members who followed vegetarian and vegan diets. "I have an 11-piece band. They are all vegetarians, vegans – you name it, they're in my band," he said on writer Matt Morgan's podcast.

Memorable Moments with McCartney and Family

The vegan exchange was just one of several memorable moments from Noel's appearance on Chicken Shop Date, where he also opened up about family life and his friendship with Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

Gallagher recalled how quickly life can change after performing to huge crowds, describing the contrast between playing to 90,000 people in São Paulo and returning home to find his sons arguing over a box of Coco Pops. "48 hours ago, I was on stage in São Paulo. The world is in my hands, and now I'm arguing with two b******s about Coco Pops," he said.

The singer also spoke warmly about his encounters with McCartney, revealing the nickname the Beatles star uses for him and explaining why he enjoys spending time with the music legend. When Amelia asked how many times he had met McCartney, Noel replied: "Several. I've seen him doing this which was surprising, I've got to say... He calls me 'Noelo'. He's one of those rare people that when you leave him you walk away feeling good about yourself."

Amelia then remarked that McCartney looked good for someone in his 80s, prompting another quip from Gallagher. "He's vegetarian, so must be something in it."
