Nicole Kidman has applied for residency in Portugal, according to local media reports. The 58-year-old actress submitted paperwork to the country’s immigration agency earlier this week, with reports suggesting she is also looking to purchase a property in the upscale CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury development popular with Hollywood figures such as George Clooney and Paris Hilton.
Kidman was seen arriving by private jet in Cascais, a wealthy seaside enclave near Lisbon. Her husband, country singer Keith Urban, was not mentioned in the application documents, as he was reportedly unable to attend due to touring commitments in the US. Urban is expected to submit his application at a later date.
The couple already owns a home in Lisbon and has multiple properties in the US and Australia. The Portugal Golden Visa program grants residency through real estate investment, and Kidman’s move comes amid a trend of celebrities leaving the US following Donald Trump’s return to the presidency. Comedian Rosie O’Donnell recently relocated to Ireland, and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres moved to the UK, citing Trump’s election as a primary motivation.
