Netflix has released unseen audition footage of the stars of Enola Holmes 3, prompting praise from fans for the film's 'perfect' casting. The clip shows Millie Bobby Brown and Louis Partridge during their initial chemistry read for the franchise.
Film Tops Netflix Charts
Within days of its debut, Enola Holmes 3 has claimed the top spot on the streaming platform. It currently ranks as the most-viewed title among UK subscribers, although it has faced some criticism. The third entry in the franchise follows detective Enola Holmes as she journeys to Malta, where her personal and professional aspirations clash during a case more complex and dangerous than anything she has previously encountered.
Behind-the-Scenes Footage
Now, Netflix has unveiled audition footage showing the chemistry read between Partridge and Brown. A chemistry read is a late stage in the audition process where one actor may have already secured their part. It is used to determine whether the performers share a strong connection that will come across on screen. The footage shows a nervous and youthful Partridge performing several scenes with Brown.
Discussing the experience, Partridge confessed: 'I remember being intimidated, but [director] Harry Bradbeer was just being lovely, and Millie was really friendly. It was a bit of a whirlwind, to be honest. I remember exactly where it was, and I remember going with my mom to the audition. It was the first audition where I really thought, "I can actually have fun while I'm doing this." It wasn't a case of, "I'm just going to read the lines and say them to my mom," who I did all my self-tapes with.'
Instant Connection
It appears that Louis needn't have worried, as his co-star was persuaded the moment he walked through the door. Speaking to Tudum, Millie revealed she felt he was right 'in her heart' immediately. She recalled: 'I do remember when Louis walked in, I was like, "Oh my gosh, that's Tewkesbury. That's him." He sat down, and he was very nervous, red cheeks, he'd just come from French class, he was still in his school uniform.'
Fans were swift to respond to the audition clips. One remarked: 'That chemistry was electric from day one Enola and Tewkesbury forever!' Another commented: 'Looking back at this knowing how incredible the movies turned out is so comforting. They were cast perfectly.' Someone else responded: 'Seeing where it all started is so wholesome. Their chemistry was absolutely unmatched right from the very beginning!'
