Natalie Portman has debuted her baby bump, just a month after revealing she is expecting her third child. The 44-year-old actress looked effortlessly chic in a pleated black dress, as seen in Instagram snaps shared from a recent journey aboard the iconic Orient Express. Her bump was clearly visible beneath the elegant ensemble, which she paired with a black blazer and sunglasses.
A Journey Back in Time
Portman described the luxury train experience as "feeling like stepping back in time," posting photos of the trip from her hometown of Paris to Cannes, where she is expected to attend the annual film festival. The actress announced last month that she is pregnant with her third child, her first with French music producer Tanguy Destable, 45.
Family and Gratitude
Portman has two children from her previous marriage to choreographer Benjamin Millepied: son Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, nine. The couple separated in 2023 and finalized their divorce in 2024. Speaking to Harper's Bazaar about her pregnancy, she said, "Tanguy and I are very excited. I'm just very grateful. I know it's such a privilege and a miracle." As the daughter of a fertility doctor, she is acutely aware of the challenges many face in conceiving. "I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant. I have so many people I love who've had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well," she explained.
Cherishing Every Moment
Portman reflected on experiencing pregnancy in her forties, noting a deeper appreciation. "There is a gratitude that when you're young, you don't necessarily grasp. And there's a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day. And knowing it's probably the last time, I cherish every moment." She added that she feels energetic, saying, "I have more energy than I thought I might."
Private Life and Protection
Portman was first linked to Destable in March last year, and the couple now lives together in Paris. The actress has rarely spoken about her older children or love life, a conscious decision to protect her privacy. "I'm not a particularly private person in real life - I'll tell you anything - but in public, it was so clear early on that if you tell people how private you are, your privacy gets respected a lot more," she told Interview magazine. She added, "I set up a little bit of a barrier to be like, 'I'm not going to do photo shoots with my kids.'"
