Jade Goody, the late Big Brother star, amassed a £3 million fortune in her final months to secure her sons' futures, but questions remain over the money's fate. Goody, who died of cervical cancer in 2009 at age 27, worked tirelessly selling interviews and pictures until two weeks before her death, intending the funds to provide private education for her sons Bobby and Freddie Brazier.
Her ex-partner Jeff Brazier, father of the boys, revealed in 2014 that Goody calculated £260,000 was needed for their private schooling until age 16. However, in 2020, her widower Jack Tweed claimed the money had "vanished," admitting he should have paid closer attention as a named beneficiary. "Something doesn't seem right," Tweed told The Sun.
Financial setbacks included a reported £1.8 million tax bill from unpaid income tax in her final years, and a ruling that expenses from her beauty salon did not qualify for tax relief. Jeff Brazier acknowledged the mess, saying Goody was not good at taking advice.
Despite this, Goody's mother Jackiey Budden stated in 2019 that there was still money in the trust, covering Bobby's private education and available for Freddie if needed. Jackiey received £10,000 in the will, while Tweed received only Goody's £14,000 Volkswagen, silencing claims he benefited financially. Tweed insisted he added any shared earnings to the trust, saying, "I didn't take a penny from her."
