Myleene Klass Becomes St John Ambulance Frontline Responder After Saving Daughters

Myleene Klass has announced she is now a trained volunteer frontline responder with St John Ambulance, after twice saving her daughters from choking. The 46-year-old broadcaster and musician shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of herself in uniform alongside an ambulance.

“Check out my new office,” she wrote, adding: “I’m so proud to be a part of the @stjohn_ambulance family, serving my community officially and as ambassador.” Klass became an ambassador for the charity last year and said she was “overwhelmed” by the support she has received, admitting she had not realised how intensive the training would be.

The newly-trained responder explained: “I don’t think anyone (myself included) realises how much work and study goes into it. It’s easy to take the guys in green coats for granted thinking they just volunteer for events and sporting fixtures, but honestly, the practical and written exams, the A&E doctors training and testing you, the kit prep alone and the weekly top up reminder classes, whilst a lot are also massively reassuring, and all actions are carried out with dignity to the patient as the priority at ALL times.”

Klass also shared a tip with her followers, revealing that Chappell Roan’s track Pink Pony Club is perfect for keeping rhythm during CPR chest compressions. She added: “(As is Staying alive and baby shark, depending on your musical predilections).”

After sharing her update, she received messages of support from famous friends including Davina McCall, who commented “yessssss Myleene”, and Jools Oliver, who wrote “Wonderful you are a superstar.” Model Penny Lancaster, a Special Constable with the City of London Police, said: “Great achievement.”

Earlier, Klass posted a video of herself in training and revealed she was inspired to learn first aid after saving her daughters from choking. “I saved both my girls from choking one as a baby, one a tween, and it was absolutely terrifying. The only thing worse would have been not knowing what to do. This might be your sign to get first aid trained,” she said.
