Morrissey has cancelled a concert in Atlanta just hours before it was due to start, citing illness. The 66-year-old former Smiths frontman was scheduled to perform on Saturday night, but fans were informed via social media that the show would not go ahead.
The brief statement read: 'Due to artist illness, the Morrissey show on January 17, 2026, at 8 PM has been cancelled. All ticket purchases will be refunded automatically at the point of purchase.' No further details about his health were provided, though the decision was made on medical advice.
This cancellation follows a series of disrupted performances. Morrissey had already postponed his first two shows of the year in California, citing an adverse reaction to prescription medication. In November, he axed a string of South American tour dates due to 'extreme exhaustion'.
The singer has also faced security concerns, cancelling concerts in Connecticut and Boston in September 2024 over what was described as a 'credible threat' to his life. Despite these setbacks, Morrissey recently announced his 14th solo album, 'Make-Up Is A Lie', set for release on March 6 via Sire Records.
