Sixteen passengers have been permanently banned from Carnival Cruise Line after a violent brawl broke out at Port Miami, Florida, on Monday, 22 June. The incident occurred as travellers waited in a customs queue after returning from a Bahamas voyage aboard the Carnival Conquest.
Footage Shows Chaotic Fight
Video footage captured the shocking moment two women sparked the altercation around 8am. One woman, wearing a black strapless dress, ducked under a queue barrier and began punching a woman in polka dot pyjamas. A third woman, in a yellow and white maxi-dress, then joined the fight, grabbing one of the women by the hair.
Several other men and women quickly entered the scuffle as US Customs and Border Protection officials tried to restore order. Luggage and personal items were thrown around the room. At one point, a man was seen wielding a stanchion above his head as witnesses screamed.
No Arrests Made
The fight was brought under control after several minutes. The cause of the confrontation between the two families remains unknown. No arrests were made because both sides refused to press charges.
A Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Mail that 16 people have been added to the company's "Do Not Sail List." The company stated: "The incident occurred in the debarkation area under the authority of US Customs and Border Patrol. We are appreciative of law enforcement's swift response and handling of the matter. We do not tolerate such behaviour."
Similar Incident on Another Carnival Ship
This episode follows a confrontation aboard another Carnival cruise ship, where two women allegedly attacked each other as the vessel returned to Mobile, Alabama, from Nassau, Bahamas. Both parties now face federal court summons for simple assault and appeared before a judge in early May.
US Magistrate Judge Bert Milling Jr told the women their case would be dismissed if they remain arrest-free and avoid contact with each other for three months, according to Fox 10. A final decision on that case is scheduled for 12 August.
