She told People magazine, 'I'm feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something that I've been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately.' While she finds public interest flattering, she admits it can be overwhelming.
The mother of three young children—Kit, Spencer, and Anne—was motivated to change her habits to improve her long-term health. 'Now I want to lose weight because I want to stave off things like diabetes,' she explained to Bustle, noting a family history of the condition. 'I truly feel so healthy.'
Her fitness routine includes running or hiking 20 miles per week, along with weightlifting. 'I basically live in workout clothes so I can get it in,' she said. Kaling also revealed that dieting never worked for her, as she found it too restrictive. 'I am never going to stop being a foodie,' she stated.
