Midge Ure, the 71-year-old 80s icon known for his work with Ultravox and Thin Lizzy, has cancelled all performances scheduled from September onwards following a health scare. The musician announced the decision in a statement, revealing that doctors discovered a health issue during a routine check-up that requires 'urgent treatment and a period of recovery'.
Ure did not disclose specifics of the condition but expressed regret for any disruption caused. He reassured fans that shows planned for the remainder of the month would go ahead as scheduled, stating, 'I remain fully committed to performing all shows currently scheduled for this month and I’m looking forward to being out there with you for as long as I’m able.'
The star, who co-wrote and produced the Band Aid charity single 'Do They Know It’s Christmas?' with Bob Geldof, also confirmed that his A Man Of Two Worlds Tour, announced last month and set for May and June 2026, is 'very much going ahead'. He described the tour as offering 'a rare and deeply personal concert experience'.
Ure’s team is working with promoters to reschedule affected dates, with updates to be shared on his Facebook page. He asked for privacy for himself and his family during this 'difficult time', signing off with thanks for fans' 'understanding, patience, and unwavering support'.
The singer recently performed at the Isle of Wight Festival and posted on Instagram about a 'beautiful' night in Miltenberg, Germany, before the announcement.
