Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan have been spotted filming The Beatles biopic in Barcelona, recreating the band's historic 1965 concert at Shea Stadium. The four-part film franchise, directed by Sam Mendes for Sony Pictures, is scheduled for release in 2028.
Cast and Concert Recreation
The biopic features Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. This week, the quartet filmed the iconic concert at Barcelona's Montjuic baseball stadium, standing in for New York's Shea Stadium.
In 1965, The Beatles performed a 12-song set lasting just 30 minutes, but it became the first major outdoor stadium rock gig on record. The concert drew 55,600 screaming fans, with noise levels reaching 131 dB, making it nearly impossible to hear the music.
Attention to Detail
The actors wore The Beatles' cream suits and bowl haircuts, using the same or similar instruments. The cast and crew filmed in a mostly empty stadium to capture every moment. The real concert was a landmark moment in Beatlemania's global takeover.
Keoghan and Mescal appeared in their element on stage alongside co-stars. The stars have been spotted filming in locations worldwide, from Barcelona to Liverpool.
