Spice Girl Mel C, real name Melanie Chisholm, married Australian model Chris Dingwall in a custom ivory lace silk slip dress designed by her bandmate Victoria Beckham. The ceremony took place in the Lake District on Saturday, with Dingwall wearing a black tuxedo. He proposed to Chisholm while the couple were on holiday in Mallorca in July 2025.
A Surprise Proposal and a New Chapter
Chisholm, 52, told British Vogue that she did not see the proposal coming and had never planned a big wedding, but when Dingwall proposed, she felt it was “right”. She said: “I’ve had this awakening in my 50s – I’m very comfortable in my skin. I thought, you know what, this is a part of my story. When you’re my age you’re like… I actually want to experience all of the things.”
Spice Girls Reunite for the Celebration
Three of her fellow Spice Girls – Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell – attended the wedding. Victoria Beckham did not attend but designed the dress. Beckham said of the design: “Melanie is quite minimalist and didn’t want anything too fussy, conceptual or overly complicated – this is all very aligned with what I do.”
A Dress Inspired by Posh Spice’s Wardrobe
The UK celebration followed a legal ceremony in Sydney, where Mel C’s “something borrowed” came from Posh Spice’s own wardrobe, which inspired the dress for the big day. Chisholm added: “Victoria was so excited about being able to do this for me, and having her and (daughter) Scarlett there every step of the way has been very special. Plus, I just love her clothes.”
A Perfect Match
Speaking about Dingwall, Chisholm said: “The spark was immediate. I was 49 when I met Chris and I was in a really good place. We had a date in Australia, and it’s been difficult to separate us ever since.” She described Dingwall as “a beautiful addition” to her life and her daughter Scarlett’s, adding: “I’m a single mum. My daughter is 17, and we’re pretty resilient the two of us, we’re a team. For anybody coming into our world… it was going to be tough, and he just fits perfectly. It’s a beautiful dynamic.”
Mel C’s Journey from Spice Girls to Solo Success
Mel C was 20 when the Spice Girls were formed in 1994, and the group rocketed to fame after the release of “Wannabe”. She has since launched a solo career and recently released her ninth album, “Sweat”.
