Melanie Chisholm, best known as Mel C of the Spice Girls, is reportedly set to marry her Australian model and screenwriter boyfriend Chris Dingwall this weekend, despite previously vowing she would never get married. The 52-year-old singer went public with Dingwall in 2024 after they matched on the celebrity dating app Raya.
A Change of Heart on Marriage
Chisholm shares daughter Scarlett with property developer Thomas Starr, her partner of 20 years, before they split in 2021. She was previously in a seven-year relationship with her former manager Joe Marshall, which ended in 2015. Earlier this year, she hinted at a change of heart, saying in January: "It's something I didn't think would be part of my story, but I'm so happy with Chris. Maybe it is something that will be in my life."
Secret Countryside Wedding with Spice Girls Invited
According to the Mirror, the wedding is being held at a "beautiful" countryside setting in the UK, and all of her former Spice Girls bandmates have been invited. An insider told the Mirror: "All the girls are thrilled for her….they are all so excited. They have never seen her so happy." Friends describe the wedding as the "icing on the cake" after a brilliant year for Mel.
Recent Career Highlights
Just last week, Chisholm was honoured with the global impact award at the Nordoff And Robbins Silver Clef Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. She gushed on stage: "I am living my best life….I am the happiest I have ever been." She added: "I stand here 30 years into my career, 52 years of age and this year I released an album that was my highest charting album in my entire solo career." A pal is reported to have said: "Mel is on fire at the moment. She is such a lovely person and deserves all the success both professionally, and now personally, as well."
