Mel B Maintains Silence on Beckham Family Drama While Addressing Spice Girls Future
Mel B, the iconic Spice Girls member, has firmly declined to comment on the escalating feud within the Beckham family, which saw David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son Brooklyn release a shocking six-page statement containing lurid allegations about his parents. The fifty-year-old mother of three, who achieved global fame alongside Victoria Beckham in the legendary girl group, pointedly stated that she "doesn't give advice on anybody else's kids" when questioned about the family conflict.
Brooklyn's Explosive Allegations Against Parents
In January, Brooklyn Beckham, aged twenty-seven, addressed his social media followers with extraordinary claims that his parents had attempted to sabotage his marriage to billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz, aged thirty-one. The aspiring chef alleged that David and Victoria Beckham have consistently prioritised their public branding over genuine family relationships throughout his life.
The communication breakdown within the Beckham family has become so severe that Brooklyn has reportedly requested that any attempts from his family to contact him must be conducted exclusively through his legal representatives. This dramatic development highlights the profound rift that has developed between the celebrity parents and their eldest son.
Mel B's Categorical Refusal to Engage
Speaking in a new interview, Mel B elaborated on her position regarding the Beckham family situation. "You know what? If my kids [Phoenix, twenty-seven, Angel, eighteen, and Madison, fourteen] want advice, I give them it," she stated. "I don't give advice on anybody else's kids. And if I did, I wouldn't tell you about it, because that's private."
The singer's comments reflect a deliberate decision to distance herself from the controversy surrounding her former bandmate's family matters, maintaining professional boundaries while acknowledging the sensitivity of private family disputes.
Spice Girls Reunion Plans in Serious Doubt
Beyond the Beckham family drama, Mel B used the interview opportunity to address persistent rumours about a potential Spice Girls reunion to celebrate the group's thirtieth anniversary. She categorically denied any truth to these circulating stories, telling The Sun, "I've not said anything about a reunion, I'm always the first one to say: 'Yes, we're going on tour'. And I'm willing it to happen. Now I'm fifty, I'm not going to be forcing anyone."
The star admitted that she may never perform with her former bandmates again, despite their historic success as part of the iconic lineup alongside Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Geri Horner, which originally formed in 1996 before initially splitting in 2001.
Previous Reunions and Current Stalemate
The Spice Girls have reunited on several notable occasions since their original separation, including a world tour in 2007, a performance at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony, and a 2019 UK tour as a four-piece ensemble without Victoria Beckham. However, Mel B now suggests that further reunions appear increasingly unlikely.
"I can tell you [a reunion] is not happening," she stated definitively. "If it does, it'll be a shock to me, let's put it that way. When I look at that [2019 tour] and at the feeling it gave me, I was in my element, but there comes a time... I'm fifty. You can't be nagging everyone to go on tour if they don't want to. I laid that to rest when I turned fifty."
Netflix Documentary Plans Also in Jeopardy
Mel B also cast doubt on the proposed Netflix documentary about the Spice Girls, taking a subtle swipe at bandmates who she suggested "did not want to be honest" on screen. "I think we've all been asked and were all thinking about it at some point," she explained. "But it has to be done in the right way, and it has to be honest – and not everybody wants to be honest."
This revelation follows reports from 2024 suggesting that Geri Horner had derailed a substantial Netflix deal that would have netted each of the five original members approximately one million pounds. Sources indicated that fallout between Geri and Mel B left the band unable to secure management capable of mediating to advance such projects.
Underlying Tensions Within the Group
The reported tensions between Mel B and Geri Horner reportedly began when Mel confessed to having a lesbian fling with Geri during the band's nineties heyday on Piers Morgan's chat show in 2019. Geri denied the affair ever took place, with Mel subsequently being accused of fabricating the story to promote sales of her tell-all memoir, Brutally Honest.
Despite these underlying tensions, Mel B acknowledged her "incredible bond" with her former bandmates while expressing uncertainty about whether she would join them even if a last-minute reunion were proposed. "I honestly don't know," she told Hello magazine. "I've got a lot of respect and love for those girls. I wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't for me being part of the Spice Girls. They've done a lot for me as a person and in my life. I've got fond memories, but I don't know if I would want to go back up on stage."
Mel C Confirms No Current Reunion Plans
Fellow Spice Girl Mel C independently confirmed that no reunion is currently in development, telling The Smallzy Show on KIIS Radio, "No, there is no reunion. We are communicating all the time. We want to do something – who knows when. But I still feel very optimistic and I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future."
This collective uncertainty from multiple band members suggests that while individual relationships remain intact, coordinated professional projects face significant obstacles that may prevent the iconic group from reforming for performances or documentary projects in the foreseeable future.
