Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing fresh humiliation following the announcement that they are returning to the UK. Following their reunion with King Charles last month, the Sussexes have decided to return to Britain and will reside in a non-royal residence outside of London. The couple have already enrolled their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, in British schools. It is understood there will be no change to Harry and Meghan's role as non-working members of the Royal Family.
Stars Voice Disapproval
Several stars have since weighed in on the couple's decision, with many appearing to voice their disapproval. Broadcaster Dan Wootton wrote on X: "BREAKING RIGHT NOW: MEGXIT REVERSED! Harry and Meghan moving back to the UK, the Daily Telegraph has just revealed. WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS!?"
In a humiliating dig at the Sussexes, American podcast host Megyn Kelly responded: "We've done our time here in America my dear friend!"
Speculation Over Reasons for Return
There has been repeated speculation about why Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, have decided to return to the UK, six years after they made the bombshell decision to step down from their roles as senior working royals and relocate to America.
Former royal butler Grant Harold believes the reason for Harry's return is due to his concerns for his father's health. King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in 2024 and is still undergoing treatment.
During an appearance on GB News, Grant said: "I think the one thing I'm aware of is that when he saw the King. We all know the King is obviously living with cancer. It's an ongoing battle."
"Harry has said in that interview [he didn't] know how long his father got, which was a very strange thing. I thought it was a very personal thing to discuss."
"You're aware that when people are fighting cancer, you're always in the positive, and thankfully a lot of people survive and get through it. But maybe he's maybe he's worried about his father, and maybe it's genuine."
"He wants to be near him, so he's there. Because the thing I've always said, Harry and his father were always very, very, very close. They were really close, and there was always this bond between the two of them, and with William, and maybe genuinely it's someone he misses."
Grant added: "And who knows, maybe he's thinking that if his father, for whatever reason, in the next few years was not here, he might regret the fact that he didn't spend this time with him. So that could be one of the driving factors."
Other Views on the Return
Others haven't been as optimistic, with royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believing it is because the Sussexes "failed to make it in the United States".
