Tottenham's hopes of signing Manchester City winger Savinho have received a boost, with City reportedly working on a deal for a replacement.
Double deal gathering pace
Standard Sport understands Spurs are in talks with City for Savinho, as well as for his teammate Omar Marmoush, as they look to strengthen their attack. While nothing has been finalised ahead of Tottenham's first Premier League match of the season against Brentford, the double deal is accelerating and a fresh breakthrough appears to have occurred.
City target Palmeiras winger
According to the Athletic, City have lined up Palmeiras winger Allan Elias as one of several options to replace Savinho. However, Palmeiras are aiming to keep the 22-year-old, who has an €100 million (£85 million) release clause at the Arena Palmeiras.
Elias has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool and is widely expected to be the next major sale from Palmeiras, following the departures of Endrick and Estevao to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively in recent years.
Path to north London
If City are able to agree a deal for Elias, it is assumed that the door will open for Savinho to finally move to north London. Savinho has been a long-term target for Tottenham after they failed to secure a move for him last summer.
After falling out of favour under former City boss Pep Guardiola, Savinho expressed his desire to leave the club. He was subsequently left out of new head coach Enzo Maresca's squad for the Community Shield defeat by Arsenal last weekend after missing training due to illness.
