Meghan Markle 'snubbed' by David Foster at gala

Meghan Markle appeared to be “snubbed” by Hollywood legend David Foster on the red carpet at his own foundation’s 40th anniversary gala. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex posed for pictures in Victoria, Canada, for the David Foster Foundation’s ceremony, with Meghan appearing in a dress by Canadian designer Greta Constantine and sporting earrings that used to be Princess Diana’s.

Video captures awkward moment

But she was soon “snubbed” by 16-time Grammy Award winner Foster, who is married to American Idol star and singer Katharine McPhee. Meghan and Harry have been friends with the famous couple for years, but in video captured at the event, David appeared to swerve Meghan completely. Meghan could be seen extending her arm as though to touch David, who completely ignored her and walked past – not even sparing Meghan a glance.

Social media reactions

His wife Katharine put her arm around the duchess while David came around her other side to pose for a photo, looking behind the two women to say something to Prince Harry. Social media users couldn’t get over the clip, with one writing on X: “Tensions on the red carpet! Meghan Markle publicly snubbed by host David Foster. Watch as he refuses to greet her and ignores her reaching hand. Ouch.”

Someone else said: “Nobody stands next to Harry but Meghan, she makes sure of that!” Another said: “Her ego is beyond the pale.” And a fourth echoed: “Why does she always look like she is directing traffic? Who made her the red carpet police?”

Defenders offer alternative view

Others, however, suggested Meghan wasn’t greeting David at all, but simply extending an arm to help him past. One tweeted: “She put out a hand to help guide him past, you live in a fantasy world of jealousy and hatred.” Someone else said: “Stop it. She wasn't trying to shake his hand. She was signalling the way for him to move next to them.” And someone else said: “Don’t be stupid, she had her hand out to guide him the way.”
