Meghan Markle was reportedly 'desperate' for an invitation to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, but she and Prince Harry are not among the 1,200 expected guests, according to an insider who spoke to gossip blogger Rob Shuter.
Meghan's Disappointment Over Missing Invite
The pop star is set to marry the NFL star on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with a guest list of around 1,200 people. Notable attendees include Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, Lana Del Rey, Suki Waterhouse, and Zoe Kravitz. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not invited, a snub that has left Meghan disappointed.
An insider told Shuter, who writes the Naughty But Nice blog, that Meghan was 'desperate' for an invite. 'This was never just about attending a wedding,' the insider said. 'For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years.'
Swift's Past Rejection of Meghan
This is not the first time Swift has reportedly rejected Markle. In 2023, Meghan invited Swift to appear on her Archetypes podcast, but Swift declined. 'Taylor was the one Meghan wanted most. More than any other celebrity, she saw Taylor as someone who could elevate her status and open doors,' the insider added.
Another insider noted that 'Meghan has always been drawn to powerful people. Throughout her career, she's gravitated toward influential figures and high-profile circles. Taylor became the ultimate prize.'
Swift Values Genuine Relationships
Swift reportedly values loyalty and authentic connections. 'If she senses someone is interested in access rather than authentic friendship, she keeps her distance,' the insider said. 'The missing invitation told Meghan everything she needed to know. Taylor made her choice—and Meghan wasn't part of it.'
Upcoming UK Visit for Harry and Meghan
Despite the snub, Meghan and Harry are due to visit the UK next month, their first family visit since 2022. They have accepted an offer to stay in a royal residence with their two children during their time in Britain. Prince Harry is visiting in connection with the Invictus Games, helping kick off the year-long countdown to the event for injured military personnel, scheduled for Birmingham in July 2027.
