Maya Jama and Ruben Dias' Valentine's Day Weekend: Romance, Art, and a B&Q Surprise
Maya Jama and her boyfriend Ruben Dias offered fans a delightful glimpse into their romantic Valentine's Day weekend on Sunday, after celebrating the day of love together in a series of charming and unexpected moments. The 31-year-old presenter documented their celebrations through a string of snaps shared on her Instagram Stories, capturing everything from a lavish dinner to an impromptu hardware store visit.
A Romantic Evening with Artistic Flair
While Maya and Ruben indulged in many traditional Valentine's Day activities for couples, their evening took a creative turn at the dinner table. The Love Island host shared a humorous video where she joked that they were channelling their inner 'Picasso' by drawing together during their meal. In a playful nod to his skills, Maya referred to the Manchester City football star as 'Picasso number two' as she showcased his artistic talents to her followers.
An Unlikely Trip to B&Q
In a surprising twist, the couple's Valentine's Day celebrations included an unlikely detour to the hardware store B&Q. Maya shared a hilarious video clip of Ruben using a saw to carefully cut the stems off her enormous bouquet of roses, adding a practical and amusing touch to their romantic weekend. This unexpected moment highlighted the couple's down-to-earth dynamic amidst their glamorous lifestyles.
Relationship Milestones and Personal Insights
The couple, who have been dating since 2024 but only confirmed their romance publicly in April last year, appear to be growing stronger together. Maya recently offered candid insights into their relationship during her Instagram stories, admitting that the only reason she still lives in the UK is for Ruben. She reflected on her preference for warmer climates and her work commitments abroad, stating: 'I'm not gna leave yet really but I am only in England for my man at this point.'
Her affection was further evident when she later shared a snap of herself wearing a Manchester City away jersey featuring Ruben's playing number, three, showcasing her support and missing him during time apart.
Recent Challenges and Burglary Incident
Despite their joyful celebrations, the couple has faced recent challenges. Last month, it was revealed that their lavish new Cheshire mansion was burgled while Maya was away filming in South Africa. Cheshire Police confirmed to the Daily Mail that possessions had been stolen and enquiries into the robbery are ongoing.
Reports indicate that burglars made off with thousands of pounds worth of items, including designer clothes, jewellery, and electronics. The couple had only recently moved into the Omaze prize-draw mansion, which is said to cost £20,000 a month to rent. Ruben reportedly raised the alarm after returning home to discover the house had been ransacked with valuable items missing.
A source close to the pair expressed their devastation, noting: 'The house is the first they have moved into as a couple and is very special to them. Thankfully, neither was at home, but they are very upset that their personal space has been invaded.' The source added to The Sun that Maya had taken pride in moving into their first home together, sharing numerous videos and pictures on social media from the property.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police provided details: 'Shortly after 11.10pm on Wednesday 28 January, police received reports of a burglary at an address in Woodbrook Road, Alderley Edge. Officers attended and found entry had been made to the property and a number of items had been stolen. Enquiries are currently ongoing.'
