Matt Willis has admitted he is now 'better' after revealing the three-word nickname his wife Emma Willis used for him. The singer and podcaster opened up during an appearance on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, hosted by former rugby star and Celebrity Traitors contestant Joe Marler.
During the conversation, Matt, 43, was asked how Emma, 50, would sum him up in a single sentence. He replied: "Well she used to call me 50 percent Willis which is, because I'd always do 50 percent of a job. Like, she'd say, 'You have the best intentions but you can't ever follow through'."
Matt was quick to reassure Joe that he had turned over a new leaf and was now far more committed to following things through. He clarified: "I'm a bit better, I'd say 75. I'm 75 percent Willis."
Marriage insights shared publicly
The couple, who have been married since 2008, have three children together - Isabelle, Ace, and Trixie. Over the course of their near 20-year marriage, they have been frank about the ups and downs they have experienced, but also the progress they've made.
In recent years, both have regularly shared personal insights into their relationship. This isn't the first time Matt has addressed his marriage to Emma, who is currently making her debut presenting Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.
Earlier discussion on On The Mend podcast
Earlier this year on his On The Mend podcast, Matt told listeners he had asked Emma about the same matter he had highlighted to Joe Marler, and whether it could be anything to do with ADHD.
He said: "I asked Emma about it, and she thought about it for quite a while, and then she basically gave me the same one which I've said before, which is I don't follow through with things. It was worded slightly different, but that was the message."
He added: "She basically said, 'You have so many ideas, which is hard to keep up with at times, and I don't want to disregard your passion and ideas for stuff, but there's so many, and so few of them are going to take flight'."
Matt concluded: "And she was like, 'I don't want to stop you from being this creative thing that comes up with all this stuff, but you don't follow through on most of them, and some of them which you come to that are important, you don't follow through with.'"
Emma is due to appear on Strictly Come Dancing this evening (October 17) when it returns to BBC One at 6:15pm, whilst she will also be seen on The Voice at 8:35pm on ITV.
