Former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here contestant Vogue Williams has revealed why Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp has been notably absent from Bushtucker Trials. The Irish presenter, who was the third celebrity eliminated from the ITV show, explained that Kemp was exempt from some trials and willingly let others take the lead.
In a Q&A on Instagram, Williams said: "Martin did want to do the trials, but Martin was exempt from some. And I think everyone wanted to do the trials, which was probably unusual for a year [on the show]. So I think that because Martin’s a bit quieter, he was happy to let everyone else go ahead." She described Kemp as "sound" and "really, really lovely."
Viewers had dubbed Kemp a 'ghost' campmate due to his low profile and lack of trial participation. His wife, Shirlie Kemp, also expressed a wish for him to be more lively on ITV's Lorraine, saying: "I think Martin's been quite quiet though because I think that's who he is, he's quite quiet, and he likes to listen, so sometimes I want to say, 'Martin, come on, do more!'"
Kemp will finally take part in a trial on Thursday, December 4, alongside Tom Read Wilson. The pair will face the Lethal Librarie challenge, searching for seven hidden books to win stars for camp. This comes after Jack Osbourne completed the previous trial, prompting viewers to question why Kemp had not yet been selected.
