Married At First Sight Australia star David Momoh has claimed that his wife Alissa Fay's personality underwent a dramatic shift towards the end of the experiment, attributing the change to her recovery from a bullying scandal involving other brides.
David and Alissa initially appeared to be a perfect match, enjoying a blissful honeymoon in Mt Buller, Victoria, and impressing the experts with their instant connection. However, their relationship began to unravel after a disastrous Homestay in Adelaide, leading to multiple arguments.
Reflecting on the breakdown, David told TV Week that Alissa had been a 'shell of herself' due to cruel text messages sent by fellow brides Bec, Gia, and Brook. When she eventually reconciled with them, he noticed a 'different side' emerge, which he found difficult to handle.
David explained to Pedestrian.TV that Alissa's newfound confidence led her to dominate conversations, saying: 'I’m a guy. I see myself as intimidating. I’m not gonna have a word battle with a woman.' He admitted that he retreated rather than confront her.
Despite proposing to Alissa at the final dinner party, the couple ultimately did not stay together. David now believes they were a terrible match, telling WHO: 'In hindsight, knowing how much I cared for her, I overlooked so much... I was meant to be a subordinate and do things based on how she felt.'
