In a harrowing account of reality television gone brutally wrong, former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan has revealed the horrifying moment she sustained a severe intimate injury during filming for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The singer-songwriter, now 32, was forced to quit the Channel 4 show after a punishing challenge went terribly awry, resulting in a torn vulva that left her in agonising pain.
The Moment of Agony
The incident occurred during an arduous task that required contestants to transport heavy weights across difficult terrain. Spraggan described the catastrophic moment she felt something tear, initially mistaking the searing pain for a severe hamstring injury.
"I just remember feeling this rip," Spraggan recounted on the Help I Sexted My Boss podcast. "I thought I'd torn my hamstring. The pain was so intense I just collapsed."
A Shocking Discovery
It was only upon medical examination that the true extent and nature of her injury became apparent. The show's medic delivered the startling diagnosis: Spraggan had torn her vulva, a injury both extraordinarily painful and deeply personal.
"The medic came over and said, 'Right, I need to have a look','' she explained. "He went away and came back with a doctor who said, 'You've torn your vulva'.''
The medical team explained this was an injury they typically associated with childbirth complications, not reality television challenges.
Forced Exit from SAS
The severity of the injury left no choice but for Spraggan to immediately withdraw from the competition. She required hospital treatment for the tear, marking one of the most unusual and distressing medical emergencies in the show's history.
Despite the traumatic experience, Spraggan expressed no bitterness toward the production, acknowledging that such extreme physical challenges inherently carry risk. Her departure followed that of fellow contestant and S-Club 7 star, Hannah Spearritt, who also left due to medical reasons.
The incident highlights the extreme physical demands placed on celebrities in these increasingly brutal reality formats, where the line between entertainment and endurance is constantly tested.
