Scottish Love Island contestant Ellie Chadwick has finally revealed what was in her famous wicker handbag after exiting the villa. The 24-year-old real estate videographer sensationally quit the ITV show in scenes broadcast during Thursday night's episode on July 16, choosing to follow her heart and walk out with partner Finley Maddock after he was booted out by other islanders.
What Was in the Wicker Bag?
Ellie's wicker handbag became a running joke among Love Island fans, who were baffled by her constant attachment to it. Now, she has revealed: "It was my lip combo, my perfume and deodorant. I didn't carry it around everywhere. I carried it around after I came back from the date with Kavan. I didn't carry it around all the time."
Despite playing down its significance, Ellie isn't planning to ditch the bag, adding: "We might need to do a little rekindling on the outside, me and the wicker bag. Who knows? I might take it everywhere now!"
Why Ellie Left the Villa
Speaking about her decision to leave, Ellie said: "Obviously, seeing Finley up there was hard because it was a recent event and he hadn't been in the bottom before. Then, when we got told about the second dumping and that we had to choose, I already kind of knew in my gut that it wasn't going to go the way I was hoping, which was for me and Finley to stay there and continue to grow. There were no ifs, buts or maybes, or what ifs, or how could this play out."
Ellie admitted she believed in their connection and said no one else would come in to make her feel what she felt with Finley. Fans were gutted by Ellie's decision but have rallied around her, supporting her choice to leave.
Criticism of Finley's Communication
Despite walking out with Finley, Ellie took a swipe at his "poor communication" during their time in the villa. Ellie found herself in a love triangle when bombshell Elicia Bailey entered the villa and created tension between her and Finley after his head was turned.
Addressing the situation, Ellie said: "Finley knows fine well that I feel like he navigated it very poorly. I made that very vocal and I will stand on that. I always will. I think the communication was poor. A lot of the things that happened were not relayed to me in a proper way, which I would have appreciated. I understand he was confused. I was understanding the whole time, but there was only so much understanding I could do. There are definitely ways it could have been better, but we live and we learn."
Upon leaving, Ellie affirmed that she had "found what she was looking for."
