Love Island Australia star Trent Woolman has been airlifted to hospital after falling into a bonfire and becoming trapped in the flames while tidying his sister's rural property. The 28-year-old sustained burns to his arms, mouth and airways, and had to crawl back to his sister's home after the incident.
Brain Injuries and Postponed Surgery
Medics discovered multiple brain haemorrhages and a cyst on his brain, which meant they had to postpone a surgical skin graft that would mend the damage to his arms. After two weeks in hospital, Trent has spoken to the Daily Mail about the ordeal.
He described the incident as the "worst time" of his life and shared photos of the aftermath with the Daily Mail, showing him with bandages covering his face and arms.
Recovery and Sister's Response
Trent said: "I got stuck on the fire and got off and crawled back to the house. Been in hospital for two weeks and have a couple of weeks to go." His sister quickly called an ambulance, and Trent branded her as "amazing" and "so brave". MICA intensive care paramedics were dispatched, and a helicopter was called to airlift him to a Melbourne hospital, reports the Express.
Trent confirmed he was sober during the "traumatic" incident.
TV Career and Upcoming Appearances
The TV star is best known for his stint on the 2023 series of Love Island Australia. Prior to entering the villa, he revealed that he had previously been romantically involved with season four finalist Phoebe Spiller.
In 2023, he said: "I dated... well, not dated, but we were on and off for a couple of years, Phoebe Spiller from last year and I. I thought I was gonna marry that girl, so I was pretty disappointed to see her on the show last year."
He is now set to make a guest appearance in the upcoming series of Married at First Sight Australia while attending the wedding of his Love Island co-star Zac Nunns. Nunns is matched with TikTok star Vanilla Milla on the dating programme.
