Love Island viewers praised Ethan for his handling of an awkward confrontation between his mother Diana and Priya during the meet the friends and family episode on Sunday evening.
The popular ITV2 dating show brought in the contestants' loved ones to offer their blessing on budding relationships just days before the final. In Sunday's episode, Ethan's mother Diana and his friend Huss arrived at the villa to catch up on his journey.
Diana Expresses Disappointment
While chatting at the Sundeck, Diana shared her thoughts on Ethan's situation with Priya, telling him: "I'm very disappointed about how you've been disrespected." Despite Ethan's attempts to explain and defend Priya, his mother remained firm in her feelings.
Meanwhile, Priya had an emotional reunion with her mother Karen and sister Rianha, who discussed her connection with Aidan and gave their seal of approval.
Families Come Together
Later, Ethan's and Priya's families gathered, and Diana took the opportunity to speak honestly with Priya. Ethan's friend Huss remarked: "Yeah, you've had a bit of a rocky journey haven't you?" Priya admitted: "It's been really up and down!" Huss expressed sympathy: "You don't deserve that!"
Diana then shared her upset: "There was just one thing that... and it really upset me. It could have probably made me cry. Was the day when Ethan was here and said he was going to step back. You know, let you get on, and you know, you were grateful for that and I think Ethan must have just been down a few steps. You called Aidan over and you were there cracking on with him... right behind his back!"
Ethan Defends Priya
Ethan quickly stepped in: "Yeah, I don't think it was intentional! I think we've been very open and clear I don't take that in any way you know." Priya responded: "And obviously I do apologise because I would have never wanted to feel, make you guys feel like that! Before that conversation, we kind of did know it was going that way so it wasn't like a shock to you. But no, I understand how that can look!"
Ethan added: "Everybody in here navigates things as best as they see fit and possible," with Huss concluding: "Everyone makes mistakes at the end of the day!" as the families said their goodbyes.
