Lorna Luxe Recalls Husband's 'Slow and Sad' Death from Cancer

In a deeply emotional new interview published on Thursday, fashion influencer and entrepreneur Lorna Luxe, 43, recounted the harrowing final days of her late husband, millionaire banker John Andrews, who passed away in February at age 64 from stage four adrenal cancer. She described his passing as a "slow and sad death," starkly contrasting with cinematic portrayals of peaceful ends.

The Heartbreaking Reality of His Final Days

Lorna detailed the immense struggle her husband faced, noting that "every breath became a chore" and emphasizing that his death was "the hardest thing I’ve ever done." She explained to The Times, "The body fights it — it’s not an easy, relaxing, passing-into-sleep thing." Reflecting on her expectations, she added, "It wasn’t anything like you see in the films - I’d imagined me nattering away to him until the last minute and him squeezing my hand. But this was slow and sad."

Poignant Notes and a Humorous Legacy

Amid the grief, Lorna discovered a series of touching mementos left by John. While accessing his phone for passwords as instructed, she found "short, sweet, beautiful notes" he had prepared for her. In a lighter moment, he also included a "funny" list of people she was not allowed to date, though Lorna clarified she is not "naming names" publicly.

A Stressful Life Change After Loss

Following John's death, Lorna has faced additional upheaval, recently moving into a temporary home while awaiting renovations on their £2.5 million property in Moreton Paddox, Warwickshire, famously known as Ghost House. The couple had previously relocated in 2025 during extensive renovations. On her Instagram Story, Lorna shared that she moved with minimal belongings, stating, "We moved in with a suitcase of clothes, a corkscrew and a kettle... this has all been a bit stressful." She expressed confidence that John would be proud of her resilience, saying, "John would be so proud that I pulled it off and found me and Bear an even better gaff to 'temporarily' call home."

John's Cancer Battle and Final Moments

John was initially diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2023, entering remission before the disease returned in 2024 and spread to his brain. Complications from chemotherapy led to organ failure and sepsis shortly before Christmas, with doctors advising Lorna to "prepare for the worst." He managed to return home for Christmas Day but passed away on February 11. Last month, Lorna tearfully revisited their three-bedroom Warwickshire home for a progress report, describing the experience as "bittersweet" without her husband by her side.
