A gorgeous walking route in London will make you feel like you are stepping into a real-life fairytale. As we are halfway through spring, it can be nice strolling through the streets and enjoying all the flowers.
Weekend Plans for Londoners
Now if you are in London, this journey is a must for your weekend plans. Not only can you stop off at some charming cafes along the way, but you will have a chance to see all the beautiful wisteria in the capital. It is not always easy finding the plant as it thrives in a sunny, sheltered spot, but there are some streets in London which can allow you to take in the views.
A London page shared the ultimate walking route to see all these flowers, and it begins from Holland Park tube station.
Visit London told 532,100 followers on TikTok: "You need to take this wisteria walking route in London. There is no better place to see wisteria than London, so we put together a walking route that will take you through some of the city's most beautiful wisteria-lined streets."
Route Highlights
As you begin at Holland Park tube station, be sure to make your way towards Landsdown Crescent. All of the surrounding roads near here are dotted with vibrant displays.
Next, take a short walk to Hawbridge Mews, a quaint cobblestone area "full of charm and almost feels like you have stumbled into a real life fairytale."
The video added: "Then take the 10-minute walk to Bedford Gardens, taking in the colourful streets, cosy pubs and cute cafes on your way. This spot is honestly so full of wisteria that we could actually smell its floral fragrance from around the corner. The surrounding roads in this area are also well worth the detour for more beautiful blooms."
"Next, make your way through Kensington towards Abingdon Road, followed by a quick stop at the absolutely stunning finance mews."
Sharing the final part of the tour, you will need to walk for about half an hour or so to reach Saint Leonard's Terrace in Chelsea. The page dedicated to London added: "This is the final stop and with a never-ending display of wisteria, it is well worth the walk."
What Is So Special About Wisteria?
Known for its breathtaking beauty and fragrance, this flower creates a dramatic "waterfall" effect in spring. These long-lived, vigorous climbing vines are popular for draping over pergolas or climbing house walls. These flowers also represent endurance, longevity, and high-status affection, largely due to their ability to live for many decades and their prominence in Japanese culture.
While commonly purple, varieties like wisteria sinensis (Chinese) bloom early, but others like summer wisteria (Mia taiwanis) can flower from late spring into fall.
