Liam Gallagher: Keep biblical vibrations going, England fans

Gallagher's call for 'biblical vibrations'

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has urged England supporters to “keep the biblical vibrations going” after fans and players again sang the band's hit Wonderwall following a World Cup match. The 53-year-old took to X after England's 2-1 victory over DR Congo on Wednesday, where the squad lined up with fans to belt out the 1995 single.

Gallagher posted: “Let’s keep the biblical vibrations going if the governments we put in power can’t bring it then it’s down to the people c’mon England.” The tradition began after England's opening group game, a 4-2 win against Croatia, and has continued throughout the tournament hosted in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Harry Kane's brace and Wonderwall singalong

England's latest win came courtesy of a brace from Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane. After the match, Gallagher commented: “Harry Kane, lick it up to ras,” and added: “The country needs good vibrations until the mighty O (Oasis) comes back, life is meant to be good not shit.”

Fans responded by asking when Oasis would reunite following their 2025 reunion tour. Gallagher joked he could not reveal the date “for security reasons”. In another post, he predicted England would beat Mexico 5-0 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where England have only lost twice in competitive fixtures.

Wonderwall's legacy

Written by Gallagher's brother Noel, Wonderwall reached number two on the UK singles chart in the 1990s and remains one of Oasis's most recognisable songs. It was later covered by The Mike Flowers Pops, whose version also peaked at number two. Besides its use at England games, Wonderwall is played after home matches of Manchester City, the Premier League club supported by both Gallagher brothers.
