Liam Gallagher has definitively ruled out a new Oasis album, dashing fans' hopes that have been building since the band's historic reunion announcement in August 2024. In a series of posts on X, the frontman made clear that no new studio record is forthcoming, while simultaneously confirming that the band will play more gigs.
Liam's blunt response to album speculation
On Sunday, July 19, Liam replied to a fan who pleaded for a new album, writing: "NO. I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour. cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other s**t let’s just [do] some gigs and be happy thank you."
This followed earlier hints from Liam in late 2024 and early 2026, when he told a fan a new album was "already finished" and claimed he was "blown away" by new tracks Noel had written. Synchronised social media posts by Liam, Noel, and guitarist Bonehead in early 2025 and 2026 had fuelled speculation, with fans expecting a documentary or album announcement.
Reasons for no new album
Liam explained his reluctance, saying: "Exactly, momma didn't raise no fool, they're mad for putting the boot in but can’t if the gigs are great." He acknowledged that fans would criticise any new material, particularly if it didn't match the sound of early albums like Definitely Maybe.
When asked if new music would sound different, Liam replied: "I’d like to think it’d still sound like Oasis and we hadn’t turned into a bunch of electronic umbrellas trying so desperately to keep up with the kids, do you get me bruv?"
Upcoming gigs confirmed
Despite dismissing album rumours, Liam confirmed the band will perform live. When a fan asked if they would play "Gas Panic!" next year, Liam simply replied: "Of course."
No official Oasis gigs are currently scheduled for 2026, but reports indicate the brothers are planning a massive summer 2027 reunion encore tour. After completing their 41-date Oasis Live '25 world tour, they are taking a break but have teased a return.
Planned 2027 tour details
According to insiders, Oasis is planning a historic 12-night residency at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, stretching across six weeks from June 2027. Liam fuelled speculation by jokingly replying to a fan, "12 I thought it was 10 ffs."
A record-breaking six-night stand at Knebworth Park is also pencilled in for September 2027. Additionally, a broader European stadium tour is being mapped out, with shows in Rome, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, and a potential Scottish date at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
Sources close to promoters indicate the official announcement is expected in August 2027, with tickets going on sale shortly after.
