Kylie Minogue and Tarantino Film in Wales

Pop star Kylie Minogue, 58, and director Quentin Tarantino brought the Welsh town of Porthcawl to a standstill as they filmed scenes for their new top-secret film over the weekend. The pair were spotted shooting a funeral at Newton Church, followed by a wake at the local Saltwater Inn. Later, they were seen at a seafront bar and restaurant, laughing and singing together.

Tarantino Steps in Front of the Camera

Tarantino, known for directing Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction, is also acting in the film. Welsh filmmaker Jamie Adams is involved in the production, which is being kept under wraps, with the title and plot undisclosed. The movie is produced by New York-based Visor Entertainment.

One fan, Helen Harvey from Swindon, encountered Tarantino reading in a Cardiff hotel lobby with a "stack of books." She told the BBC: "I went back to my group and said 'there's a bloke in there who looks like Quentin Tarantino.' My friend said they'd heard he was staying at the hotel so I went back just to say I love your films, I'm a big fan." She described the star as "gracious and charming."

Kylie's Upcoming Tour and Health Journey

Kylie recently teased a major tour to celebrate her 40th career anniversary. In an interview with the Sunday Times' Style magazine, she said: "I'm probably not meant to say this, but yes I am." Speaking to Rolling Stone, she added: "It might be 2027-2028, because 'Locomotion' was 1987 in Australia. And like, the very, very end of '88 was 'Lucky' kind of everywhere. So 2027-2028."

The tour news follows the release of an intimate Netflix docuseries on her life, during which Kylie spoke candidly about IVF and her health struggles. She first battled cancer in 2005, undergoing a lumpectomy and chemotherapy. She was given the all-clear but the cancer returned in 2021. On keeping the second diagnosis private, she shared: "I was able to keep it to myself and go through that year. I didn't feel obliged to tell the world, and actually, I just couldn't at the time, as I was a shell of a person. I didn't want to leave the house again at one point. Thankfully, I got through it again, and all is well."

Kylie noted she struggled "to find the right time" to announce the second diagnosis, especially during the success of her Grammy-winning 2023 single Padam Padam. "Padam Padam opened so many doors for me, but on the inside, I knew that cancer wasn't just a blip in my life. And I really just wanted to say what happened so I can let go of it," she explained.

Local Reaction

Residents and visitors in Porthcawl were surprised to see the stars. Filming drew big crowds, with many taking photos and videos. The film's release date has not been announced.
