Kerry Katona Expresses Deep Concern for Britney Spears' Wellbeing
Kerry Katona has publicly shared her worries about fellow pop star Britney Spears, stating she is "genuinely concerned" about the singer's current state. Katona's comments come after Spears, 44, returned to Instagram with provocative content, including a video where she exposed herself while dancing.
Understanding the Conservatorship Context
Britney Spears was placed under a conservatorship in 2008 following her public breakdown in 2007. This legal arrangement gave her family control over her multimillion-dollar estate and various aspects of her personal life. The conservatorship was terminated in November 2021 after years of legal battles and public scrutiny.
Katona, who balances her own entertainment career with selling exclusive content on OnlyFans, suggested that Spears' recent social media posts belong on a platform like OnlyFans rather than Instagram. "If she's gonna do stuff like that - she might as well set up an OnlyFans account. It's bad!" Katona wrote in her new! magazine column.
Katona's Personal Perspective on the Situation
The former Atomic Kitten member explained that Spears' recent behaviour has made her reconsider the purpose of the conservatorship. "To me, it's all kind of making sense why this conservatorship was in place," Katona revealed. "It's so bizarre. Her teeth as well, they're not the same anymore! How? Why? I am genuinely concerned about her wellbeing and it is so, so sad to see."
Katona drew parallels between her own experiences and Spears' struggles, recalling being nicknamed "the British version of Britney Spears" during her own difficult period in the 2000s. "I was in the same era as Britney when she shaved her head. I was going through my own meltdown," she shared, noting that she managed to overcome her challenges.
Contrasting Social Media Approaches
The television personality highlighted the different approaches she and Spears take to their online presence. "I have an OnlyFans account, for over 18s. My Instagram is very PG, very family-orientated," Katona explained, suggesting Spears might benefit from a similar separation between public and private content.
Reflections on Pop Stardom and Band Dynamics
Katona also commented on the challenges of fame, referencing Melanie Blatt's recent revelations about difficult relationships within All Saints. While Katona had positive memories of her Atomic Kitten bandmates Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon, she acknowledged that fame brought its own pressures.
"I was part of the band when we were nobodies, but it turned into The Kerry Katona Show a bit and that was one of the reasons I left," she confessed. "I didn't enjoy that time. I don't think all press is good press, and it triggers me."
Despite these reflections, Katona emphasized her current positive mindset: "But I am in such a good place now! I just don't want that drama in my life right now, and I didn't like that kind of attention in Atomic Kitten."
Katona's comments represent a significant intervention in the ongoing public discussion about Britney Spears' wellbeing and the legacy of her conservatorship, coming from someone who has experienced similar pressures of pop stardom and public scrutiny.
