Keely Hodgkinson Reveals Marriage and Family Plans

Keely Hodgkinson has opened up about her personal life, revealing her intention to get married and start a family within the next 10 years. The 24-year-old Olympic champion shared her plans during an interview with Welsh sprinter Jeremiah Azu on his YouTube channel.

Personal Goals Beyond the Track

When asked by Azu what one thing she wants to achieve in the next 10 years, Hodgkinson answered: "Mine is not related to track at all. Mine is I'd like to start a family and get married. That's a big thing for me. I'll be 34, I'd like to think I'd had a baby by then and I really look forward to that point of my life at some point."

The Atherton-born runner rose to prominence at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she won gold in the 800 metres – four years after securing silver in the same event at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Since then, she has become one of the most recognisable faces in UK athletics.

Previous Relationship and Dating Views

Hodgkinson has previously discussed her love life, revealing that her three-year relationship with another runner ended at the beginning of 2024 due to long-distance issues. Speaking to The Times in October 2024, she said: "He lived in Texas for a bit, then in Italy, then London. There was always a distance and, because I do what I do and put that first, we could go weeks, months and not see each other. I'm not really interested in dating right now. I've never been on the apps. I like meeting people in real life."

Recent Race Withdrawal

Amid attention on her dating history, Hodgkinson returned to action last week at the British Athletics Championship for the 400m final. However, she walked off the track seconds before the race began. After taking her position in lane nine, an upset-looking Hodgkinson moved to the side as officials gathered around her. She later confirmed on social media: "I wasn't feeling 100% standing on the start line, so I made the tough decision to step away and not race. I didn't want to risk anything ahead of this summer." On Instagram, she added: "Leaving champs healthy!! Sometimes the hard decision is saying no, body wasn't feeling 100%, exciting summer ahead."
