Princess Andre, Junior Andre, and Heidi Katona have revealed how growing up in the spotlight as children of reality TV stars affected their lives. In a candid conversation on Princess's show, Princess Diaries, the trio discussed their shared experiences of fame, isolation, and the challenges of a childhood lived under public scrutiny.
Growing Up in the Spotlight
Princess, 19, and Junior, 21, are children of Katie Price and Peter Andre, while Heidi, 19, is the daughter of Kerry Katona and Mark Croft. The three friends, who consider each other like siblings, opened up about feeling different from their peers. Junior remarked, "There's not many kids like us though," while Heidi asked, "Do you ever feel a bit isolated? Like really different to your friends, if your friends were asking what you're doing at the weekend and you drop something like oh they're shutting down Peppa Pig world for me and your friends are like huh?"
Princess Reflects on Her Childhood
Princess acknowledged that while they were fortunate to experience extraordinary things, such as private visits to Universal Orlando, it was difficult to grow up in the public eye. "It was a little bit difficult growing up because I couldn't be spontaneous and I couldn't do things that I fully wanted to do because social media and press can turn things to be different than how it is," she said. Now, she feels she has better "control" over her approach to fame, adding, "It was the fear of not wanting to risk anything. Then you get older and you start to realise it is my life and you take control like that."
Missing Out on Normal Experiences
Junior expressed a desire to do what everyone else did, with Princess adding, "Like being able to go to a park till stupid times in the morning and get drunk." Junior's girlfriend Jasmine, who was also present during the Monaco trip for the Grand Prix, noted that she had those experiences because she lived outside the spotlight. Heidi echoed the sentiment, saying, "What if I just want to get really messy drunk with my friends like every other 19-year-old does."
