Melissa Tkautz, star of the Real Housewives of Sydney, has expressed uncertainty about the show's future, suggesting a second season is not guaranteed. In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, she said: 'At the moment it's a waiting game, we don't know if a second season will be announced.'
Her comments follow similar doubts from castmate Lisa Oldfield, after US networks reportedly declined to pick up the series, deeming it 'too mean-spirited'. Tkautz defended the show, stating: 'I know the show didn't sell overseas but it rated really well and had a huge following.'
The show, which initially seemed likely to be renewed, faced setbacks in May when Foxtel's head of television Brian Walsh admitted it 'went too far'. He criticised the cast, saying: 'A lot of the women in this show were nasty for nasty's sake and have no redeeming features.'
In July, a source told The Daily Telegraph that Walsh called a meeting to request that Lisa Oldfield and Athena X Levendi be removed from the show, citing the intensity of their fighting as excessive.
