Karen Gillan Celebrates Scotland's World Cup Win Singing 500 Miles

Karen Gillan was among the thousands of fans at Boston Stadium last night as Scotland secured their first World Cup victory since 1990 with a 1-0 win against Haiti.

Actress Shows Her Scottish Pride

The 38-year-old Jumanji star was loud and proud in her support for the team. She shared a video on social media of herself enthusiastically singing along to 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' by The Proclaimers on the way to the game. In the clip, Gillan and friends are seen belting out the Scottish anthem from a car, flipping the camera to show a kilted Scotsman dancing along in the street.

Dressed in a blue Scotland top, with a companion wearing a kilt, she captioned the video: 'Da Da Da Da... Let's go Scotland!' Later, from inside the stadium, she posted a clip of the crowd jumping to 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' after the match, screaming 'Go On Lads' in the background.

A Night of Double Wins

After Scotland's victory, Gillan also celebrated the New York Knicks' NBA win, their first in 52 years. She shared a shocked-expression photo with the caption: 'Scotland AND The Knicks won??! WHAT A NIGHT.' Fans flooded the comments with praise, with one writing: 'Yass Scotland!!!' Another said: 'Imagine just walking down the road and you see Karen Gillan doing this to you.' A third added: 'Oh yeahhh!' An American follower replied: 'The sheer joy of the Scotland fans is so infectious. I don’t even follow soccer but I think I have to be a Scotland fan now??'

Match Details and Celebrations

Scotland's 1-0 win over Haiti in their first World Cup victory in 36 years sent the team to the top of Group C. John McGinn scored the decisive goal in the 28th minute, a vital win that boosts their chances of progressing to the knockout stages for the first time in history. A draw would have left them needing to beat Brazil or Morocco to advance.

Gillan was not the only famous Scot at the game. Line of Duty star Martin Compston and Baby Reindeer's Richard Gadd also shared videos of partying in fan zones in Boston. First Minister John Swinney and actor Gerard Butler were also in attendance, having attended a Scottish Night in Boston Dinner and Gala Event at the Royale, where Butler wore a kilt and football shirt. Gordon Ramsay was spotted during Scotland's final training session and later offered free wings to fans wearing kilts at his Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurant in Boston.
