Joel Dommett 'petrified' ahead of second child's arrival

Television presenter Joel Dommett has confessed to feeling 'petrified' as he and his wife, Hannah Cooper, prepare to welcome their second child in the coming months.

Nerves and Excitement for Growing Family

The Masked Singer UK host, 40, is a self-professed loving father to his two-year-old son, Wilde, but admits the prospect of expanding their family is daunting. "We're excited, but I think 'petrified' is winning in the emotional state," Joel revealed in an exclusive interview. "The idea of looking after one child is one thing, but the idea of another kid being there... I just can't imagine how chaotic it's going to be."

Joel and Hannah, who have been a couple for a decade and married for six years, have chosen not to learn the gender of their new baby. The comedian explained this decision offers a rare moment of mystery and shared anticipation in an era where few secrets remain.

While their social media often depicts a picture of happiness, Dommett was keen to stress that these posts represent only a "small snippet" of their real life. He emphasised the importance of communication, respect, and mutual support as the bedrock of their relationship, especially with the dynamic shift that a new baby will bring.

Davina McCall's Inspiring 'Superpower'

Amidst the personal preparations, Joel reflected on the profound inspiration he draws from his friend and The Masked Singer co-star, Davina McCall. He described the love between Davina, 58, and her new husband, celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas – who married in a secret London ceremony on 5 December – as showing him "what love is."

His admiration extends far beyond her personal life. Joel expressed awe at how McCall has publicly navigated significant health challenges, including a brain tumour diagnosis and surgery, followed by a breast cancer diagnosis. "She's unbelievable," he said. "The last couple of years she's had have been mad. She's just been incredible."

He believes Davina's experiences have forged a unique "superpower" – the ability to comfort and inspire others facing similar difficulties. "If anyone else is going through any of these things, she has the power to make people feel better about it," Joel stated.

The Masked Singer's Unlikely 'Family' & New Series Twists

Joel counts himself extraordinarily lucky to work on a show where the panellists share genuine friendship and respect, a rarity in the television industry. Alongside Davina, the team includes Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, and Jonathan Ross. "We just really respect and love each other," he affirmed, noting the positive atmosphere extends to the entire crew.

He is particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming series of The Masked Singer UK, calling it his "favourite series by far." A major change this year involves incorporating more unmaskings than ever before. "We found a way of getting in lots of extra little unmaskings throughout the series who aren't necessarily part of the main 12," he teased, promising a roster of "unbelievable" celebrities.

Dommett also recently returned from co-hosting I'm A Celebrity: Unpacked in Australia, where his family joined him. He praised the latest jungle lineup, highlighting the "brilliant" dynamic between rapper Aitch and eventual winner Angry Ginge, and the consistent humour of comedian Ruby Wax.

On a lighter note, Joel discussed his new partnership with King C. Gillette, embracing a more dedicated grooming routine. "Men are starting to moisturise and look after their faces and their routine much earlier than they ever did, which is just great," he remarked, adding that he strives to look fresh for television "and for Hannah!"

As he balances a thriving career with imminent father-of-two status, Joel Dommett's blend of nervous excitement and heartfelt gratitude paints a relatable picture of modern family life in the spotlight.
