Joe Lycett urges fans to buy tour tickets after 'embarrassing' Edinburgh sales
Joe Lycett asks fans to buy tour tickets after poor sales

Comedian Joe Lycett has turned to Instagram to encourage fans to purchase tickets for his upcoming UK stand-up tour, admitting that some dates are selling poorly. The 38-year-old, who recently appeared on Celebrity Traitors, will launch the tour on April 1, 2027, with a show titled "Do You Really Lycett? Is It, Is It Wicked? We're Lovin' It, Lovin' It, Lovin' It, We're Lovin' It Lycett".

Tour Dates and Venues

Newcastle's Tyne Theatre and Opera House will host the opening night before Lycett travels to venues nationwide. London performances are scheduled at the Eventim Apollo from June 30 to July 3, 2027, and at Soho Theatre Walthamstow on November 18 and 19, 2027. He will also return to his hometown of Birmingham for shows at the Hippodrome in June 2027 and The Alexandra that November.

Other key locations include Dublin (Vicar St), Edinburgh (Playhouse), Cardiff (New Theatre), Belfast (Waterfront Hall), Glasgow (King's Theatre), and Manchester (Palace Theatre). The tour runs until February 2028.

Instagram Appeal

Despite the extensive schedule, Lycett revealed that "thousands" of seats remain empty. In a social media reel, he smiled at the camera while text read: "My management have asked me to make a video telling you that I'm going on tour in 2027/28, because Edinburgh is not selling well."

The comedian acknowledged that "some shows are sold out" but cautioned that Edinburgh "has the potential to be very embarrassing". He added: "Please come to see me in Edinburgh," alongside a screenshot of a half-empty venue, stating: "I have thousands of tickets to sell in Edinburgh."

In the caption, he wrote: "Could do with shifting a few in London, Hull and Bradford and all."

Fan Response

The post went viral, amassing over 23,000 likes. One supporter commented: "I'm sure everyone of your shows will sell out." Another replied: "I'm coming!" A third wrote: "I have tickets for Edinburgh! We are flying over to see you from Prague!" while a fourth posted: "FINE. Sold."

Another fan admitted: "Won't lie, didn't know you were playing Edinburgh but I do now." One person warned: "Oasis play that weekend in Scotland."

Tour Announcement and Celebrity Traitors

Lycett first announced the tour on Instagram in June, telling his 1.5 million followers: "Very excited to say I'm going back on tour, my first one since 2022". He added: "It'll be silly and contain some jokes and stories."

His recent appearance on Celebrity Traitors made him one of the BBC show's most captivating contestants, despite his elimination. He participated as a Faithful throughout, though he openly wished to become a Traitor, stating his goal was to "start as a faithful and end as a traitor".

He helped expose two Traitors but persistently lobbied for recruitment. During a Round Table discussion, a slip of the tongue led fellow contestant James Blunt to suggest Lycett sounded like a Traitor. The group voted to banish him in the episode aired Friday, October 16. As he left the castle, Lycett confirmed he had remained a Faithful throughout.
