Jimmy Nail Surprises at Something in the Water Newcastle

Jimmy Nail surprised audiences at Something in the Water in Newcastle on Sunday, joining the star-studded lineup for a fundraiser at the Theatre Royal. The crowd erupted as the actor and singer performed duets with Joe McElderry, including Dead Man's Boots from Sting's musical The Last Ship and Nail's 1990s number one Ain't No Doubt.

Fundraiser Returns for Second Year

Something in the Water, founded by Joe McElderry and Michael Lavery, returned for its second instalment after raising nearly £30,000 in 2025. The event showcases North East talent and raises money for arts opportunities for young performers. This year's aim was to exceed that amount to support regional arts and create pathways for emerging artists.

Star-Studded Lineup and Highlights

The first half featured comedian Jason Cook, local soul singer TMJ, and impressions from Georgia McIntyre, who was selected by industry experts. During the interval, audiences at both matinee and evening performances heard Joe McElderry perform his new single Love Me Out Loud, hailed as 'song of the summer'. Joe then introduced Jimmy Nail, who later this year will play sell-out shows at The Glasshouse in Gateshead.
