Jessie J and Chanan Safir Colman Split After 'Sad and Difficult Situation'
Jessie J Splits from Chanan Safir Colman

Jessie J has announced that she and partner Chanan Safir Colman split 'a long time ago' following a 'sad and difficult situation'. The musician and the Denmark-born basketballer were first linked in 2021, but it remains unclear how they first crossed paths. It wasn't until 2023 that the couple went public with their romance, with Jessie having glowing praise for him, having met Chanan just weeks after she suffered a miscarriage. Describing him as a 'beam of light' and 'the calm to [her] crazy', Jessie and Chanan welcomed baby boy Sky in May 2023.

Announcement on Instagram

Their relationship has now come to an end, with the Price Tag singer, 38, sharing an Instagram reel of her with Chanan and Sky as Here Comes The Sun plays in the background. She wrote: 'Chanan and I decided to end our romantic relationship some time ago, it has been a sad and difficult situation, but we have been focused on navigating the change privately and positively for a healthy and happy co parenting environment for our son, and ourselves. Unfortunately, being in the public eye, this is the easiest way to let people know the truth, before rumours circulate or a false narrative is written.'

Jessie continued: 'We will always continue supporting each other with love, respect and care as friends and most importantly being Skys Mum and Dad, so if you see us out and about together as a family, or posting each other on socials every now and again. That's exactly what we are doing. Raising and loving Sky together, supported with a positive friendship.' Jessie, who has 13.9 million followers, disabled comments on the post.

Previous Relationship and Views on Marriage

The songwriter, who once declared her life with Chanan a 'whirlwind love', was previously in a long-term relationship with Hollywood actor Channing Tatum. She and the Magic Mike star dated on and off for around two years, first linked in October 2018. While she then dated Chanan for approximately five years, Jessie said in 2025 that they were in no rush to get married. 'We talk about it all the time, and we laugh about it all the time, and I'm sure we will, but we're not in any rush,' she told People. 'I've always said that I'm not too fussed about getting married, and some people get really funny about that, but it's my own preference.'

Jessie added that, if she were ever to get hitched, she'd want it to be when 'Sky's old enough to know what's happening so that he can be really a part of it and enjoy that moment of seeing Mummy and Daddy come together in [their] love'. 'We have a child. I feel like that is the most locked in that we can feel with each other,' she added.

Support During Health Struggles

Jessie further praised her then-boyfriend as a natural parent who 'exceeded [her] expectations'. Additionally, the sporting star was by Jessie's side when she underwent treatment for breast cancer, an 'early stage' diagnosis she went public with in solidarity with others going through the same thing. She had surgery last June, having joked that it was the 'most dramatic way' to get a boob job. During that period, her partner and son visited her in hospital, and Jessie wrote online that she was 'grateful' for her family's support.
