Jessie J has returned to social media after taking time away, sharing a series of hospital and life snaps as she continues her recovery following surgery and her fight against cancer. The 38-year-old singer, known for hits including Price Tag, gave fans a thumbs up from her hospital bed in a new Instagram post.
Recovery and return online
The singer previously underwent a mastectomy and, in May, announced she was cancer free a year after her initial diagnosis. She told fans she was having second reconstruction surgery last month but decided to go offline during that time.
She took a break from social media to focus on life and her recovery, but has now returned with a mirror selfie of herself in a hospital gown. The collection also included a short clip of her toddler son Sky looking confused by a life-like painting.
Messages to fans
"Life is short!" she posted on Instagram. "Remember to come off this app every now and again and really tap into reality. Look after your body your mental health!" She began the post with a thumbs up and a healing emoji.
The mum-of-one was first diagnosed with early breast cancer in 2025, sharing the news when she explained she was going under the knife for a mastectomy. "So I just got home from my second surgery," Jessie told her near 14 million followers. "And it all went well. I just wanted to tell you that it all went okay. Yeah man, life is good. Sending love. Good energy. See you soon."
Taking a step back
Last month, she shared a lengthy post to tell fans she was stepping back from the limelight for a short time to "give my mind, body and heart a well needed hug". She added: "I am not at my best but very far from my worst. I know people can twist these kinds of posts. It's no secret that the last 2 years have been magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy."
"I have loved the last 2 years mostly, hated it in moments and learnt the most I have ever learnt about myself and what I want from my life and mostly what I want it to FEEL like." After listing events in her life over that timeframe, she added: "The past 2 years has taken a toll on parts of me that I haven't had time to give space and grace to. Now's the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please."
She said she was "tapping out" of social media for a while to "finally have my second cancer reconstruction surgery, to recharge, heal, to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy, to water the next chapter of my life and most importantly be present and really live".
