Jamie Oliver's Daughter Poppy Engaged to Ben Newman

Jamie Oliver's eldest daughter, Poppy Honey, 24, is engaged to her boyfriend Ben Newman. The news was announced by her mother, Jools, on Wednesday, who shared a photo of Newman proposing on a beach, leaving the family overjoyed.

Family Celebration

Jools wrote: "Our first baby Poppy Honey is getting married. We are so excited, proud and happy. Ben we all adore you." She revealed that Poppy and Ben met when they moved in next door to each other at university.

Jools recounted: "Little did I know as we moved Pop into her second house at university, whilst I was sweating over your shoe rack flat pack, you seemed very distracted with the boy who had just moved in next door. Five years later you had met your soul mate. So excited for the next chapter."

Engagement Photos and Reactions

Jools shared several photos of the couple, including one of Poppy showing off her engagement ring, and a video of the family celebrating in their kitchen with balloons. Jamie's mother commented on the video, writing: "Love this so much, it was such wonderful news, made me cry. Love them both."

Jamie and Jools are also parents to Daisy, 23, Petal, 17, Buddy, 15, and River, 10. Reflecting on his own marriage, Jamie said their differences have made their relationship successful.

Jamie on Marriage

Jamie said: "I wouldn't be the first to say opposites attract. We get on very well and we genuinely like each other, but we're also very different. That can create a certain tension, but it also seems to work, and I feel very blessed to have had 25 years."

He added: "[It's important] not to hold grudges, and to try to communicate as much as possible. Sometimes it doesn't matter who's right or wrong and, ultimately, I just want Jools to be happy."

Jamie and Jools met as teenagers at Westminster Technical College. Their first date was memorable when Jamie smashed his car into another. He joked: "I had my Fiesta with lowered suspension and a sound system. We were driving that night and then I went smashing into the back of another car. She felt sorry for me. She thought ‘The way he drives, he needs support in life.'"

The couple renewed their vows in 2020 to mark two decades of marriage.
