Misse Beqiri, the former partner of late The Only Way Is Essex star Jake Hall, has spoken publicly for the first time since his tragic death, detailing the painful conversation she had with their eight-year-old daughter, River.
Jake Hall died at the age of 35 after crashing through a glass door at his rental apartment in Spain. Misse, who shares daughter River with the reality star, described telling her child as the worst moment of her life.
The Heartbreaking Conversation
“It was the worst thing I’ve ever had to do. I know I keep saying this, but it didn’t feel like it was real for me to have to tell my child that her dad had passed. She was really upset, of course,” Misse told The Sun.
River is now receiving professional support to cope with the loss. “We’re trying to keep her in her routine, but when I took her back to school, she said: 'Do people know I don’t have a dad now?' It’s so much for her little brain to process. She’s having therapy. She’s got her grandparents and all the rest of Jake’s family and friends, as well as my family,” Misse added.
A Bizarre Twist of Fate
In a strange coincidence, Misse was also in Spain on the day Jake died. She had lost her passport while returning from work in Ibiza and was in Mallorca to obtain an emergency travel document when she received the devastating news.
“I have never lost my passport in my life. I was flying back from working in Ibiza, and I got to the airport, and my passport was gone. To get an emergency one, you have to go to Mallorca. So I was in Mallorca the day he died, and I didn’t realise. I got the call while I was there sorting it out, and I flew straight home in a blur,” she explained. “I don’t know any more about what happened that night. I know as much as everyone else knows. All we know is what we know from the police report – that it was a terrible accident.”
Jake Hall's Unconventional Wake
Jake Hall was laid to rest earlier this month at a funeral followed by an unconventional wake. Attendees included fellow TOWIE star James Argent, David Beckham’s mother Sandra and sister Joanne Beckham, as well as Misse and Jake’s other ex-girlfriend Chloe Lewis.
Defending the decision for a non-traditional send-off, Jake’s brother Sonny said: “We wanted to give Jake a send-off that matched who he was - not a quiet room, not a conventional goodbye. He lived out loud. He built things. He made people feel something. Last night was our way of saying: we saw you. We're proud of you. And we're not done yet. The art, the foundation, everything we're building in his name - that's the mission continuing.”
