Mick Jagger Regrets Taking John Lennon's Advice on Meeting Elvis
Jagger Regrets Lennon's Elvis Meeting Advice

Mick Jagger has admitted he feels 'really stupid' for taking John Lennon's advice not to meet Elvis Presley in the 1960s. The Rolling Stones frontman, now 82, made the revelation in a new interview with Conan O'Brien.

Lennon's Warning

Jagger recalled Lennon telling him: 'You should never meet your heroes. I would never meet Elvis, Mick, if I were you.' The Beatles had met Presley at his Los Angeles home in 1965, an encounter that left them disappointed.

According to Peter Guralnick's Elvis biography, 'Their response to Elvis was a prickly mix of anger and disillusion.' The Beatles' press officer Tony Barrow candidly described Elvis on that showing as 'a boring old fart,' though he noted Ringo Starr enjoyed a game of pool.

Jagger's Regret

Despite Lennon's advice, Jagger now regrets missing the opportunity. 'It was really stupid of me, really. I'd love to have met Elvis… Maybe my Elvis version would have been different,' he told Conan O'Brien.

The meeting between The Beatles and Elvis in 1965 saw the Fab Four nervous and initially speechless, with Elvis joking he'd go to bed if they didn't start a conversation. They eventually jammed together, but the experience left them disillusioned.
