Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall has shared a candid poem detailing her struggles with anxiety during lockdown. The 27-year-old singer from South Shields posted the piece on Instagram for Mental Health Awareness Week, admitting she felt like she'd 'sent a nude to the whole world' by being so open.
The poem, titled 'Lockdown Word Vomit', includes lines such as 'I lay awake overthinking, plagued with anxiety through the night' and describes her coping methods, including reading, hugging crystals, CBD oil, and hot baths with lavender. She also questions herself: 'Does anyone like me for who I am or WHO I am? Am I enough?' before concluding, 'F*** it. Yeah, I think I am.'
Jade has been living in her East London flat, hundreds of miles from her family in South Shields, during the two-month lockdown. The poem ends with a reflection on family: 'Wish my Nanna was around to see how close the family is today' and 'There's a new found warmth from the phone when I hear the kids say Auntie Jade.'
The post received an outpouring of support from fans and celebrity friends, with one commenting, 'This is beautiful, it made me cry,' and another saying, 'I'm so proud of you for speaking up.'
