Hollywood star Hugh Jackman made an unexpected visit on Friday to a memorial for a fallen Indiana sheriff's corporal, who died in a road accident while on duty.
Corporal Blake Reynolds of the Delaware County Sheriff's Department was killed on Wednesday on Interstate 69 near Yorktown. He had stopped to assist a disabled semi-truck when another lorry driver lost control, striking both Reynolds' patrol car and the stationary vehicle.
The sheriff's department set up a memorial outside its Muncie station, where the community placed flowers in tribute. Rick Snyder, president of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police, shared images on X of the 'Wolverine' actor at the site, writing: 'Shoutout to world-renowned actor and producer Hugh Jackman for stopping by and paying his respects... Sacrifice touches the spirit of everyone.'
Jackman, who is dating former Broadway co-star Sutton Foster—an adjunct theatre faculty member at Ball State University in Muncie—also visited City Hall. A Facebook post from the City of Muncie read: 'Actor Hugh Jackman stopped by for a visit with Mayor Ridenour and city hall staff! We were honored to welcome him... His kindness, energy and genuine interest in our city made this visit one we won’t soon forget.'
This marks Jackman's second trip to Indiana in recent months, following a talk at a Ball State theatre event in October. His relationship with Foster became public earlier this year after his separation from wife Deborra-Lee Furness, which ended their 27-year marriage in 2023.
