Henry Cavill, best known for his portrayal of Superman, has delighted fans with his genuine excitement after receiving a thoughtful gift on the set of his latest film. The 43-year-old actor, currently in Poland filming a remake of the 1986 fantasy-action classic Highlander, was presented with a box of Warhammer 40,000 miniatures by an enthusiastic fan.
Images circulating on social media show Cavill on the opposite side of a metal fence, beaming broadly as he accepts the gift. The actor, born in Jersey, has frequently spoken about his passion for the tabletop game, affectionately known as 40k among its devotees.
The Warhammer 40,000 Universe
Warhammer 40,000 is set in a dystopian science-fiction universe where various factions, including humans, aliens, and robots, engage in endless warfare. Players command armies of intricately detailed miniature figures, following complex turn-based rules to defeat their opponents. Most enthusiasts hand-paint their figures, allowing for personalisation and creativity.
Cavill has previously revealed that his preferred army is the Adeptus Custodes, genetically enhanced warriors tasked with defending the Emperor of the Universe. It was a box of these very miniatures that the fan reportedly presented to him.
Fan Reactions
The gift was arranged by the owner of a nearby store that sells Warhammer 40,000 items, according to Polish entertainment website GRYOnline. The store later posted an image of an Ultramarines helmet signed by Cavill, with the caption: "New store artefact blessed by Henry himself!"
Fans on Reddit were quick to express their delight. One user commented: "He looks like a shelter dog getting excited when someone shows it a toy." Another wrote: "That's awesome. I know he's a rich dude but genuinely happy for him because you just know he damn well appreciates it."
A third fan added: "Even if you have money, getting a gift of something you really like by someone else is always a million times more exciting than buying something yourself." Another user said: "Hahaha, he grins so broadly. I think they made his day that moment. It's like he is saying 'Holy s***, guys, I didn't manage to find these Custodes anywhere, this is amazing!'"
The Highlander Remake
The upcoming Highlander remake is directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick franchise. Alongside Cavill, the film stars Russell Crowe in the role originally played by Sir Sean Connery, Dave Bautista as the villain The Kurgan, and Karen Gillan from Doctor Who. Filming has also taken place in the Scottish Highlands earlier this month. The movie is scheduled for release next year.
In addition to Highlander, Cavill is collaborating with Amazon Studios on a live-action Warhammer 40,000 series, though details remain under wraps. He is also reportedly in contention to succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.
